Terms and Conditions

Surrendering Pets

We accept cats, dogs, kittens and puppies from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council after owners cannot be traced. We also take these animals from private surrenders, but space is at a premium as we maintain a strictly regulated non-euthanasia policy. Surrenders can only be made by appointment and when space is available, and all surrenders are subject to a temperament test. A fee is also payable upon surrender to help care for and re-home the pet.

All cats and dogs have a surrender fee of $50. Puppies under 3 months $25 and kittens under 3 months $20.

Financial Transactions

The refuge has EFTPOS and accepts cash and credit cards, but no cheques sorry. Donations, sponsorships and memberships can be made online or via bank transfer.

Veterinary Services

We do not provide veterinary services to the public. Please contact your local vet if you need these services.

Council Permits

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council, like most councils, allows you to have two dogs and two cats per household / property. If you want any more pets you must get a permit from the council.

Renting

If you are renting and want to adopt a pet from the refuge, you will be required to present written confirmation from your landlord that a pet is allowed. If you are renting short term, it is advisable to consider your long term arrangements before you adopt one of our animals. We will not adopt out any animals to people who cannot prove appropriate long term home arrangements.

ID

Bring ID with you as we are entitled to ask for this, and we may also need a rates notice to prove your address. Please don't be offended but we must ensure the long term welfare of our animals.

Wildlife

We cannot accept any stray or found wildlife as we are purely set up for dogs and cats. Please click here for details of who to contact if you find lost or injured wildlife.
