CATS SEEKING HOMES

Our cattery is becoming crowded with adult cats.  It's great to see so many
kittens finding homes, but we think our adult cats deserve a loving home too.
So many of them have wonderful personalities.

There's many advantages of adopting an adult cat, they tend to settle quickly
and aren't so full of beans all day long.  They are great for companionship too.
So why not consider adopting an adult cat today.

Teenage kittens that are already de-sexed [up to the age of 6 months]
adoption cost is $100. If a teenager is still un-desexed a $100 Refundable
Desexing Bond is required at the time of adoption.

HAS YOUR CAT BEEN DESEXED??

ARE YOU AWARE THAT

A single pair of cats and their kittens can produce
as many as 420,000 kittens in just 7 years.

Take an active roll in reducing unwanted cats & kittens.

PLEASE DE-SEX YOUR CAT.

BLUE     Male    4 yrs
Ridgeback x

Blue is a beautiful loving dog who is not doing at all well
in our refuge, we are desperately seeking a “forever”
committed home for this boy, as he is wasting away in
body and is currently very depressed.

guide him with both firmness and kindness. A stay at home
or work from home owner is required for this boy, no rentals please as Blue needs stability. Currently Blue is out of the
refuge for some TLC, please phone if you would like to come
and see him. Although Blue has great basic obedience we
will provide a free class to give Blue the best start possible
in his new home. Enquiries please phone the office or

ABOUT US

The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (Sippy Creek Animal Refuge Society Inc) was established in
1979 with the primary aim of providing temporary refuge and eventually new homes for abandoned,
abused, stray and unwanted cats and dogs.

The Refuge is an independent, non-profit, non-government funded, charitable organisation
run primarily by volunteers.  The Refuge has a strict non-euthanasia policy.

All cats and dogs coming to the Refuge are Vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, desexed and
micro chipped prior to being made available for sale to the public.
Prices range from $85 for cats, $140 for kittens and $170 for dogs.

The Refuge is managed by an unpaid, elected committee, and mainly run by a dedicated group
of volunteers. The Refuge operates from a 1.5 hectare site at Sippy Creek Road, Tanawha
(adjacent to the Council Pound) and can house approximately 70 dogs and 50 cats at any given time.
In 2008 we rehomed approximately 400 cats and 750 dogs.

We rely heavily on the support of local businesses, clubs, councils and the community in general,
for which we are very thankful and could not survive without.  We operate 12 collection points
located at Shopping Centres throughout the Sunshine Coast for donations of food and
other essentials for the Refuge.

Volunteers are always welcome (Minimum age 18 years) with a range of activities from working with
the cats and dogs, to lawn mowing, gardening, general upkeep and maintenance, washing etc.

VOLUNTEERING
We always welcome new volunteers.
If you are interested then please contact the refuge office on 5494 5275.
ANIMAL ADMISSIONS

We accept Cats, Dogs, Kittens and Puppies from many sources, including surrenders.   As the refuge maintains a strict non-euthanasia policy, there may not be enough room in the refuge for new admissions. Surrenders are made only by appointment, and when space is available. We reserve the right to reject any animal without explanation. A fee is payable upon surrender to assist in caring for the animal.
LOST DOGS & CATS

If you have lost your dog or cat,  visit the Sunshine Coast Council web site at
www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
They now have photos of all animals inpounded, check with them
regularly.   If you have found a pet check our lost pets page to see if you have found a lost pet.
We can also post a picture and information as to where you lost your pet.

If you have found a lost cat or dog.. please take it to the Sunshine Coast Regional Pound located on Sippy Creek Road, Tanawha.  This will allow the owners to easily track down their missing pets.  If you can, also
notify your closest veterinary surgery as most people check with them to see if their pet has been handed in.

Councils have different regulations regarding animal ownership.  The Sunshine Coast Regional Council allows 2 Dogs and 2 Cats per property.  A permit from the Council is required to keep any more animals.

PLEASE NOTE:   If you are renting a dwelling, confirmation in writing
from your landlord about animal ownership at that dwelling is required.
