MISS HONEY
Hi guys,
It's been almost a year since we adopted 'Miss Honey'. She has settled
in really well and now runs the household. Went to 'Kitty Camp' in
October while Rog and I were in Korea - Barbara at Kumfy Kats loved
having her. She still has a tendency to bite when startled, though is
getting better each day. Loves to play hide n seek with me around the
house. Ambushes us also. She is certainly a 'time-waster', for me, and
seems to love having me around now that it's school holidays. As you
can see from the photos, life is pretty relaxed at our house for one
ginger moggy. Many thanks again for the wonderful job you do with these
abandoned animals. Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Rusty was BRANDY
Hi,
I am Rusty (you thought I was called Brandy.) I am a Red Cattle cross
girl, 10 years old. I got my new family in July. I love it here. I am
having the best time, and even though still a bit overweight I go for
long walks every day and am much fitter than I was. My family say I
have the very best manners and have nicknamed me "Princess" because of
my delicate, refined behaviour. They say I am very obedient too, except
occasionally when I forget and chase things like cats. I get lots of
pats and cuddles. I spend a fair bit of time on the couch but Amanda
days that if she were 70 she wouldn't want to get off the couch either.
Just wanted to say thankyou to all of you for looking after me when I
had no where else to go and for finding me such a wonderful and happy
home. My tail wags constantly! Lots of little licks and puppy love

EFFIE
Just
wanted to give you an update on Effie whom I adopted in 2006.
Effie is a darling girl who I love with all my heart. When I went to
Sippy Creek "just for a look" I took to her straight away and went back
a few weeks later to get her. She settled in immediately, and today, at
5 years old, she is still as sweet and carefree (I have only heard her
hiss once) as the day I met her. Thank you staff at Sippy Creek, for
your wonderful care of all those beautiful animals. If only everyone in
this world were like you!

Bubba was MOUSE
Hello to my friends at SCARS,
Its Bubba here, (formerly Mouse) I left with my new parents early
October this year and I love my new home. I have settled in well and I
also have a kitty friend who is the same age as me. We are pretty good
friends and love to run around together and play in the back yard.
Kitty likes to sneak up on me which is fun, but when I sneak up on her
she dosn't like it so much and gives me a lil growl tee hee.
I love to play hide and seek with mum n dads shoes, clothes, thongs and
basically anything they leave in my reach haha its so funny when they
chase me. I've really begun to enjoy sticks too, they are amazing
things and keep me occupied forever along with all of the cool toys mum
n dad bought me. I have so many that I don't mind ripping some of them
to bits either because I know they will buy me new ones. They love me
so much and let me do whatever I want and they have also trained me to
sit, lie down and shake hands and every time I do tricks thy give me
YUMMY SNACKS!!!!
We go to the beach and to the dog park in Buderim (which is a bit scary
at the moment but I'm sure I'll get used to all the big dogs) and we
also visit my mums niece's 3 children who I love to play with, I LOVE
KIDS!!!!
Just thought I'd let you know though, 2 weeks after I left scars I
thought I was a big dog and tried to jump a small 1 ft high fence, I
got half way up but couldn't get my bum over so I slipped and broke my
knee. Mum n dad took me to the vet and I now have a cool pin in my leg
and am already running round like a loonatic again. I look forward to
seeing you in the next week or so for my first puppy class (couldn't
really come with a broken leg) and letting you all see how big I've
gotten.
Lots of Love BUBBA (Mouse)

BESSIE
Hi
Sippy Creek,
Bessie the beagle came from SCARS this year and is a great dog.
She is good to walk on the leash around the block, and she likes other
dogs. Mum and I walk her with our other dog Sasha every day. Bessie is
great with Sasha. They play fight together. Since I got Bessie, Sasha
is getting more confident every day. Sasha had not been socialised, she
came from another refuge a year before but is now getting along better
with other dogs and doesn’t bark as much at them. She has majorly
improved with Bessie being in the household. It is wonderful having
both dogs. Thank you for looking after so many animals, it is wonderful
work that you all do and brings much joy to families who are graced
with a pet from your refuge where there are very caring staff. Amanda

FOSTER
I
just wanted to let you know how our dog is doing since being adopted.
We adopted Foster, a 10-month old Jack Russell cross early in October.
Since then, he has settled in quite well, has had a hair cut for Summer
and is about to start obedience training. He enjoys walking twice a day
and playing in the backyard.
This is a photo of Foster opening his first birthday present last
weekend.
Thanks for helping us to get a great dog!

OTIS
We adopted Otis in July of this year....has
it really only been 4 months?? It seems like he has been
part of our family for so much longer.
Otis the destroyer-(he likes nothing better than digging up the turf or
chewing up the washing line!) has settled
into our life extremely well....he and our 11 year old son, Jake are
inseparable.
We don't know what kind of life Otis had before he was looked after by
the fantastic folks at SCARS....though we do think he may never have
experienced the beach or ocean...(now he is a real surf dog!) He is
also a keen Frisbee player though he is reluctant to take turns!
Otis is still very chilled and 'cruisy', that was the description given
on his info page, (he only really gets excited when he sees a bird or
kangaroo!) We are so proud to have Otis as a part of our family and
can't thank all you wonderful folks at SCARS enough, for giving us the
opportunity to adopt him.

Bonny was WISHBONE
Yes
it is hard to believe that 2 years has flown since Bonny came to live
with me. She is still my sweetheart even though she can be very
naughty. I had troubles with her escaping from the yard. She would go
and visit the lady next door who would spoil her with treats. I fixed
parts of the fence where I thought she was getting out. Each time I
would fix a part of the fence she scoped the areas to find another
escape route when I was not looking. I had to do some detective
work to find out how she was doing it. One time she bounced on
all fours until she was high enough to get a foot hold on the fence and
over she went. My neighbours watched her on another occasion push her
back against the side of the carport and her feet on the chain link
fence and climbed over this way. She is just too clever for her own
good. Anyway all fences have been increased in height so no escaping
anymore.
I now have a job where I am travelling away on a
regular basis. Bonny and my other dog Pogo go and stay with the
neighbour. Both dogs have their own special beds and are fed special
meat treats. When I get home I go over to the "Doggy Day Care" and
bring them home. Bonny bounces and tries to lick my face to say hello.
She loves my bed and if she is feeling tired she puts herself to bed in
my Egyptian Cotton Sheets and places her head on the pillows for
comfort. Thanks again for the wonderful job you do for her and all dogs
and cats.

Molly was AUTUMN
This is my update on Molly who was known as
Autumn when I got her from you on Sept 4 2009.
She is a wonderful and very loving dog. We are getting along just fine.
Molly obeys and listens to me all of the time. But she tends to be a
bit boisterous every night when I get home from work. Her dermatitis
problem seems to have settled down..
So to cut a long story short...I am very happy that your saved this
little lady for someone like me.
Thank you.

Juma was BAXTER
To the lovely people who looked after me at SCARS
Hello its JUMA here (formerly Baxter), I love it here at my new home,
there are lots of places to explore and a whole heap of new friends. I
thought I'd introduce my new family to you, I have; 3 fat miniature
pony friends who play tag with me, a cockatoo that keeps whistling me
over, a duck that im not allowed to eat but he's fair game to chase and
last but not least two cats who I love to sniff but they aren't very
keen on me, so we leave each other alone. And recently a new little
pony was born who is my size and who plays with me all day and cuddles
up to me when he is tired. My mum and her parents love me very much and
spoil me rotten. They used to pick me up and sit me on their lap but
I'm too big for that now. I went to puppy school and im very well
behaved and will do anything for tid bits. I get taken on lots of walks
and have all this space at home to run around on. Mum taught me how to
swim which was scary at first but its great now and im even allowed in
the pool but I don't like those scary waves at the beach. I have big
bones to knaw on for dinner and I bury some but don't tell mum. I have
worked out how to open the side door so when its hot or I get lonely I
let myself in and go and sit with mum or on my couch and watch TV. I
love other dogs and get so excited but when they come over to me it is
a little scary but im getting more used to them now I am all big and
grown up. I go on loads walks to different places and I am very good on
the lead.
Mum is a big softy and I love her very much, this place is awesome.
Thank you Sippy Creek for finding me the perfect best friend.

Toby was LAMB CHOP
This
is just to let everyone back at SCARs know that I'm doing really well.
In 2007 you rescued me and called me Lamb Chop but I have been renamed
Toby. I spent 2007 and 2008 living in Buderim with all my extended
family while mum finished studying, I had Great Grandad and the nephews
feeding me biscuits and what not but mum found out and stopped it.
Personally I think the vet tattled to mum after they put me on the
scales and discovered I was a little heavier than a toy size dog should
be. Personally I just think it's my genes, I'm a Bichon after
all we are supposed to be solid. We moved to Melbourne in 2009, however
I decided winter in Melbourne was simply to cold and bribed my
grandparents to take me back to Buderim for a holiday. Now that it's
got hot in Buderim I've moved back home to Melbourne with mum and her
housemates. I still haven't figured out how to mind control the lady
housemate into sharing her food with me but I've just about worked out
what sad or mopy expression works with the Male one, I just have to
convince him mum is lying when she tells him I don't need more food.

DONNA
Hi,
I wanted to let you know how Donna my wolfhound X pup is going, she was
also with her mother Misty and other sister pup Dayna, I got her in
June 2009 and renamed her Jill.
She is growing well and getting along very well with my 7 year old Jack
Russell "Jack" who was from Maryborough Animal refuge in 2002. Hence
the names Jack and Jill.
Jill has such a beautiful nature which is the main reason I picked her.
She was very frightened however of a lot of things including cars,
bikes, birds, being brushed and other dogs, (she was aggressive on the
lead to other dogs but we have been having some professional dog
lessons and she has improved out of sight and is now a confident girl
who loves the dog friendly beach and fishing in the tinnie.) She used
to bark, snarl and try to bite when she was being brushed but now she
knows its not hurting her or scary she lines up for a groom every day
and enjoys it.
She is an absolutely beautiful young dog and has bought so much
happiness to my life, whenever people see her they always pat her
(which she loves shes a real smoocher) and always ask "What sort of dog
is that?" I answer with "a bag of mixed lollies" and always tell them
about Sippy Creek refuge and encourage everyone to try you guys out
when considering getting a dog or cat.
Ive put some photos in of her and jack. I found your service to be very
professional and responsible, Jill got desexed at your vets when she
turned 5 months and again the service was brilliant. You do a fantastic
job and no words can really say thank you enough for the animals.
Best regards, Kelly

JED
Hi,
we adopted Jed in feb 2007. When we adopted him, he had spent most of
his life at the refuge and was unfamiliar with many things like cars
and the beach. These were scary to him, especially the waves and the
noise it made, he didn't want to go near it but with patience and
encouragement he now loves a walk on the beach and to paddle in the
water. He also likes to play ball in the backyard, something else he'd
never done. We take away camping and in the still water of the creek
will have a swim.

Max was QUINN & Ruby was HILDA
At
the beginning of the year we adopted two adorable dogs from SCARS
– Ruby (was Hilda) and Max (was Quinn). It was sensational how
quickly these puppies settled into our home!! Ruby was adopted first
and from day one has been an extremely loyal and loving dog to own. A
couple of months later when we went to get her a friend, Ruby accepted
Max instantaneously (by running up to him and playing with him before
he knew what had hit him…), and since then they have been the
very best of friends. Maxie is an adorable, sooky, and very, very
entertaining dog who believes that he is a lap dog, and is a huge
favourite at the dog park because of his silly, puppy like nature! (We
have actually recently ordered a DNA test to find out what breeds of
dogs Max consists of, and it will be interesting to find out the
results)
The dogs get to go to the local dog park every day to
play with some of their other doggy friends, and, if the tides are low,
we take them to the beach for a walk and a swim about once a week
(pictured below with some of their friends at the beach, Max is second
from the left with Ruby in the middle). At home, they spend hours every
night playing with and cuddling one of our cats who thinks the dogs are
truly the greatest thing to ever have entered our home!
We couldn’t have asked for more when adopting our furry children
from SCARS, so thanks again for providing us with the opportunity to
spoil them rotten and provide them with all the love and care they
deserve!!
Kind regards and warm wishes for the staff and animals at SCARS,
Natalie and Michael (and Ruby and Maxie)
