Bono was RINGO

Bono(formerly Ringo) has been with us for just over a year now, and he has settled in beautifully.  It has taken time to win his trust due to his treatment by previous owners, but now he has come 'out of his shell'.  It is such a pleasure to watch him relax and enjoy himself with the family. He and my son's dog Evie (herself previously adopted from YAPS in Cairns as a pup) are the same age, and really enjoy each other's company which includes chasing balls or each other around the paddock and beach, going for drives or just snuggling up indoors at night. Bono is still not completely comfortable around strangers, but over time we are sure he will overcome this.
Many thanks for all the great work you do and for introducing us to Bono, our special new family member.

JACK & ELIZA
Jack & Eliza have been with us for a month now. They are fantastic ! We just wanted you to see how happy they are. They watch out for one another, play together every minute they are not sleeping and are very well behaved in their home.  Thank you so much for making them part of our life
Kitty was GEISHA
Geisha ( who is now called "Kitty") is doing fine!  She is enjoying the garden, it is full of interesting shrubs, grass etc.    Has sourced out every nook and cranny, found the best places to do her "business".   Has the pick of the beds or chairs, has her own special place on the lounge with a cotton blanket.   Loves her own small teddy to kick the living-daylights out of...loves the string and paper pull-a-long.  Can't get enough tickles on the head and chin.   Eats well, and likes variety.  She has adapted so well, and obviously came from a loving family who treated her well.  The cats' no fool!
Thank you to the volunteers who look after all the animals....Very happy with Kitty....would recommend older folks to get an older cat.

Dandy and Jaffa
We adopted out two cats from Sippy Creek.  Dandy in January 2007, he is a beautiful dark silver tabby, and Jaffa in May 2008, Jaffa is a calico manx.  I was told she was found on a farm in Beerburrum when she was about 3 days old.  They moved back to New Zealand with us on 2nd December 2009.  They have settled in well and love rolling on the grass.  Dandy is clever and can open cupboards, doors and drawers....he even will open the wardrobe, Jaffa climbs in and Dandy shuts the door.  The pet carrier company had to put extra locks on Dandy's cage, otherwise we had visions of him up there with the pilot !  Dandy also hi-5's, shakes paws and sits on command.  Jaffa also sits on command, is so smoochy and she fetches, yep hours of flicking rolled paper and she brings it back everytime, amuses everyone.
These two have given us so much delight, I just wanted you to know how they had turned out, and where they were....

Ernie was CRUISER

Ernie (was Cruiser) adopted us just after Christmas '09 and over the last couple of months has settled in to his new job of running the house. Everyone has said how nice a personality he has and even the vet had to chuckle at his big fluffy tail - which is Ernie's pride and joy. His favourite thing at the moment is lying by the pool dangling his paw in the water - which is amazing considering the first time he went out - he was afraid of the grass.
We are so glad that we came to SCARS to find him - thank you for doing such a great job
PEGGY and TRAPPER 2nd update
It's Peggy & Trapper and we just wanted to let everyone know how we are doing. Can you believe it's been over a year since we left the refuge? Time certainly flies when you are having fun! Mum & Dad takes us to Bundaberg to a cane farm and we just love it up there, but the first time we went we wore ourselves out and it took us 2 days to recover. There is so much space for us to run around on and the beach is really close so we go there as well, Mum even brought us a little ice cream cup too! Most days Mum gets up at 5.00am to take us to the big park in Caboolture for a walk along the river and at the end we get let off in the off leash area which we just love. Dad takes us for a walk at night and when the tide is right we go to Beachmere on the weekend so we can have a run on the beach without our leads, we get to go swimming and chase the little solider crabs. So as you can see we are very happy, contented and healthy, who could ask for anything more.

SARGE (now Boots) and ELLIOT
Hi, we recently adopted 2 beautiful kittens - Boots (formerly Sarge) and Elliot.  Just wanted to let you all know how fantastic they are both doing and how happy they are in their new home. It only took Boots about 10mins after we brought him home before he sprawled out on the floor and claimed us as his new family! Elliot took a little longer but now quite happily claims his place at the end of my daughters bed (much to her delight!) They have made such fantastic companions for the kids and we are so happy that we could give them a loving home.

Ash was Chairman Meow

Hi,we adopted an adult male Burmese x from you some months ago and he has he has settled in brilliantly.  We love him so much!! Regards ,Scott and Gillian  P.S we have changed his name to a much easier `Ash`

Chewie was JONTY

Jonty (now Chewie) came to live with us in December 2008. He is the one with the white stripe down his forehead in the photos. Its taken a while to getting around to sending these but he has settled in so well, and I cant imagine him not being a part of our family. He was named after Chewbacca in starwars but spent the first few months chewing everything he could get into his mouth, so the name was pretty apt. Thankfully he has grown out of that phase. He loves chasing balls and playing with plastic toys and is a real bundle of energy, but he also likes nothing better than curling up on your lap to watch TV. He and Obi, our other dog who was rehomed from the refuge in Brisbane run around together all day and almost always end up curling up next to each other to go to sleep.

Shandi was PEBBLES

Well hello there from my new home with a new mum and dad and big brother Brando.  I moved in after Brando's sister Jesse left for the big run in the
sky.  I love my new home and made the couch my bed straight away.  I'm still putting on the 'good cute girl' act until I know my paw is in the door.
Thank you to all the lovely humans at Sippy Downs Animal Shelter...I will miss you.  I'm trying to be obedient, but it a bit hard with so much to see and smell.  My new name is Shandi and I have a new life!!!
WILLOW update 2
Hello everyone who cared for me...Willow(American Staffy x). I have been with my family for just over 12mths now and we all love each other so much. Here is a photo of me taken yesterday ( Australia Day)....I got to eat hot snags fresh off the BBQ and just hang out with my family.
Wishing you all the best for 2010...thanks once again for looking after me and finding me a great family that really love me.

JILLY

What a joy my life is this a.m. I am here with my beloved friend and companion the wonderful Jilly. I have had such an exciting time filled with fun since returning with her. She found an old tennis ball and that was the focus of her life. I bought a new squeaker toy, bright pink and purple and that also has been her constant companion. She has been loved, for that is obvious in her manner. Very obedient and I often call her 'Blossom/Blosse', she responds. Bed time saw her bed near mine, with cushions, a rug over some pilllows and two bears. She jumped up straight away. head on pillow, squeaker pushed under pillow, covered with a light cloth, and there she stayed. I am so blessed and I thank you all.
SUNRAY
Hi there, just giving you an  update on Fatso who you called Sunray that we found after been missing for 5 months. He is so happy to be back home with us and we are happy to have him home.  The day we brought him home, he was relaxed as soon as I opened up the box and he went straight to his usual spot under the table and slept for a few days, caught up on all the sleep he lost while away.  He has gained some weight since been home and almost as heavy as he was before he left 5 months ago.  We are so thankful to have him back and we thank the lady who had him for a while before taking him to the pound, god knows what he got up to in the time he was away. We have told him not to do that again to us and I don't think he is even thinking about doing it.
Thanks for letting us have our boy back.

TONKA

GYPSY
Just to let you all know - we have had Gypsy now for a week and she is doing well.  She has settled in like she has been with us for ever.
She has adapted well with our Foxie and they play well together. She loves a play with the ball, car rides and walks.

Juno was MAGGIE
Just to let you know, we have re-named Maggie and she now responds very enthusiastically to Juno! She’s a delight – and has settled in really well. She had no problem with the 11hr drive home – and has taken over Jackson’s bed and kennel with female aplomb! We had a bit of a rocky time the first day with the cats – she thought they were just another delight, purely for her to chase – but she learns so quickly, and we have peace and harmony again, inside and outside now.

Mac was THOR

Hi there from the Darling Downs!  Mac, previously known as Thor, has settled into his new home and seems to be enjoying his retirement in the wide open spaces.  He has two other dogs keeping him company as well as a chook, cows and pigs.  Not that he seems interested - he wandered in and promptly lay down and has been happy to watch everything go by from his selected spot!  While his fur hasn't grown back very well from his skin condition, he has put on a bit of weight and is looking very handsome for his 10+ years.  Thanks to the workers for your care of him on his second trip through the refuge.  He seems quite stoked to know it will be his last.

MAX
Max is such a delightful little dog, so placid and easy going, and a real joy to us both. We take him for walks around beautiful Point Vernon each morning and evening and he meets all the other local pooches. He seems to have settled in nicely. We did have a small scare with him only a couple of days after we got him. We had him in an enclosed back verandah at night which we thought was escape proof but he scratched a hole through some shadecloth and got out. We were most distressed the next morning when we found he was missing, especially as we hadn’t had a chance to register him at that point. We spent the morning scouring the neighbourhood. Luckily for us a lovely lady (who just happens to have Tibby’s herself) about 2 km away found him and rang the council. (What a relief to have him back). We have had no problems since, and he has made no more attempts to escape. I think he has realised that he has a pretty good thing going here with us, and he is happy and content.

Neil was CLARRY
Thought it was about time I sent you an update of Clarry the blue russian cross I adopted in September. He now goes by the name of Neil (which is what he says loudly outside my bedoom door at 7am when he wants breakfast). Neil took a few weeks to chill out completely, he was very scared - any tiny noise freaked him out. He spent the first few days hiding in a pot plant, then hid in a drawer for another few days before slowly venturing into the rest of the house. As I had hoped he came out of his shell and is a far cry from the terrified little cat I met 5 months ago. He is now a friendly VERY relaxed boy who thinks he runs the house and the neighbourhood for that matter. Loves to be patted and scratched, the rougher the better and follows me round the house like a wee shadow. He meows when he gets home, when he's hungry, when he's happy, when he's loney, when he has a lizard to show me and just anytime he wants really, have never heard such a vocal cat! He loves yoghurt, bacon and kiwi dip and has become part of our crew.
Thanks for a great addition to our home! Luv Bianca, Tee, Danny and Neil

CINDY
We adopted Cindy on the 8th of dec 2009, she can get away with lots of things as you can see in the picture.  Cindy loves all of the dogs in the street and loves her walks!!!  The whole family loves Cindy so much.  We said to each other we would not get a dog till after xmas but then we went to Sippy Creek and we could not resist her.  We would just like to say thankyou to Sippy Creek Refuge

BUSTER
Hi , we just thought we would send you an update on Buster the cat.
We adopted Buster in October after our beloved tabby died and I must say he has brought the laughter back into the house.
Buster is very helpful around the home he especially loves  working on the computer and assisting with the filing.
He is funny , very smart and loves playing with Jacob our 12year old son.
Buster is not only a member of the family, he is an alarm clock, a football coach (loves tackling people) and his favorite game is playing with
a rubber ball in the bath tub.  He is a bundle of laughs and affection and fits into our family perfectly.
Thankyou. Troy, Michele and Jacob

TILLY
Hi to all the crew at Sippy Creek Just wanted to give you an update on Tilly who i adopted in November 2009 . Tilly is doing well and she loves her new home, we started taking tilly outside and at first she woudn't step foot out there now she just wants to go out all the time. Tilly has come right out of her shell and likes to be with you at night and get all the attention. Thanks for helping us get a great cat.  Kassie

Tilly was ASIA

My name is Tilly (you all new me as Asia before I was adopted in August), since coming to my new home I have learnt so many things...it all started in Puppy School when I got head of the class for all of my tricks and I have since graduated from Obedience Training because I am super at walking on the lead. I shake, roll over, hi-five and even bark mum tells me too! This way I get loads of treats. I love going to the beach and chasing my ball, I'm even helpful with gardening, digging holes just where mum and dad need them. Sometimes they take me to the Farm to see my cousins and I get to herd cattle, chooks and horses..this is hard work though so I get really sleepy. Thanks to everyone at the shelter for saving me, I'm so happy in my new home!

MARK

Hi, Mark here, I was adopted in May this year, and my owners have been so busy taking me to the beach and playing fun games here in my new 10 acre back yard, that we forgot to write and say that we are all having a great new life together..
My owners decided to keep my name as it suits me just fine. I've have a great time here, I'm friends with the horse who lives here too, although he doesn't really want to play fetch with me, but that's ok, because we go to the beach and visit my other doggy friends all the time, so I'm never bored...I'm allowed to swim in the pool, and I get to have cuddles on the bed in the morning time just for a while.
Life here is pretty good, but I'll never forget the help i got from sippy creek, and we look at the website all the time to see the new faces and read the great stories of all the happy endings. I wish we could adopt a dog a week, they are all so cute...
So, thanks again for finding me a great new home, and keep up the good work...XXX
