COOKIE - Aka - Martin  &  MISHA      Hello,  We adopted the kitten Martin (now called Cookie) from the cattery about 2 months ago, and a bit over a week ago came back and adopted his mummy Misha. It was a bit of a shaky start for the two, Cookie was terrified of Misha and hid his head in my lap and refused to look at her because she was too scary!! Misha was totally unfazed by Cookie and started settling into our home. Over the time Misha has been with us Cookie has become very curious about his new friend and follows her everywhere and checks out everything she does. They both love laying in the sun on the veranda together and watching the birds.    When Cookie first came home he quickly became best friends with us and woke us up at 6.30 on the dot every morning, purring like a generator wanting cuddles. He loves to play, explore and hide our things under the couch! He has grown very quickly into a handsome big boy now.   Misha is still very timid but loves to be near us and cuddled all the time, everyday she is coming more out of her shell.    Both of them have brought us so much love and happiness and filled a missing space in our lives.
Now when relatives ask when we are going to have children I tell them I have two furry babies at home.     Thank you for looking after our babies.       From Claire, Tim, Cookie and Misha :)

PHOENIX  -  Hello Rosy and everyone at Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge,

I just wanted to send you an update on Phoenix - it has only been 2 days since she came to my house but she's already made herself at home and is very relaxed. We are all surprised  how well she has settled in (we thought she needs at least few days)! When she first arrived at my house after a long drive from Sunshine Coast to Brisbane (the poor thing meowed all the way home)  she hid under the bed for a while but came out eventually and was so keen to leave the room to explore the house. My brother and his girlfriend came to dinner on Saturday night and Phoenix welcomed them with lots of affection much to their surprise (they have a less sociable cat at home, who finds me and most visitors as her archenemy). They couldn't believe I only got her that day. Phoenix came to sit with us on the couch after dinner then she discovered her fav blanket - see photo. She spent most of Sunday either on this blanket or looking out the window.

She didn't eat much or sleep too well the first night (neither did I as she kept meowing to wake me up) but ate all her breakfast and dinner on Sunday and this morning, and slept all night Sunday night (or at least quietly explored around the house without waking me up!) She is so talkative, she meows to let us know where she is around the house and when she wants something - such as to open the blinds so she can look out the window. She is now comfortably asleep on a bed I bought for her next to the window in my office. (I work from home)

I have attached photos of Phoenix sleeping on her favourite blanket and looking out the window - it's hard to take photos of her front on, because when I call her she moves rather than turning around! I will attempt taking more photos again in near future...    Thank you for letting me adopt such a beautiful cat... I will send updates again.      Misa

SUKI
Hi. We got one of our dogs from you. You might remember her – her name is Suki and black kelpie cross nearly 2 years ago now. She is great and is a very loyal, gentle, affectionate, sweet natured dog. Apparently she lived there for over 3 months and was thought to be a bit of a lost cause, but she is perfect for us and is very, very, intelligent! She does backflips and catches the ball in her mouth when thrown up to 6 metres in the air! She also loves going to beach and swimming in water so much that when she has a drink during playing catch, she likes to actually get into her water bucket . She also understands what we say very well and is very obedient. We did not teach her any of this as it seemed to come natural to her. We love her a lot and would never recommend buying a dog anywhere else. She is great with kids, our nieces love her and is even great with kids she doesn’t know. What you guys do it fabulous. We can’t imagine why anyone would not want to keep Suki but we are glad that for our sake, they didn’t and you took her in until we could take her, so thank you!

BONNIE and SIAN

Hi to all at Sippy Creek,    Just thought I'd send a few piccies of Bonnie now she has well and truly settled in and grown an entire new coat of fur. I am still amazed by how much improvement she has shown. When we took her home, Rhett and I feared she only had about 6 months; but 6 months down the track and we now know she's got a lot more life in her yet. She has more fur than the other two dogs put together. We have also had her on the cartrofen for her arthritis and she bounds around like a dog half her age.   At first Sian and Bonnie had their differences; Bonnie didn't like the idea that she wouldn't be top dog but Sian is twice her size so she really didn't have much choice in the matter. However as you can see they are now quite unbothered by each other.   We have packed up and relocated to Victoria but are living by the beach and all three of our dogs love the sand, water and smells to be found there. Very different beach to the Sunshine Coast; but they love to wade in the water even if it is only about 6 degrees. We also have the most sensational dog park which is a Rotary community forest of about 5 acres and I've not seen anything like it before, neither had the girls. Kangaroos go through at night so they can sniff and follow trails to their hearts' content.   Thank you again for rescuing Bonnie. She is proof that we should not judge by outward appearances and I am so pleased we took her home (even if we did think it was just for her "retirement"). Sian is still my best friend, just so loyal and protective. She wants nothing more in life than to be a lap dog, all 35kg of her, but she is just amazing.    All the best and we still check the site regularly to see how the dogs are doing.     Lauren and Rhett

LUCKY     Here is little Lucky settling into her new surroundings. As you can see Gemma and Lucky are bonding together and lucky is following gemma everywhere and they are also helping me in the veggie garden.  Archie is Archie and he plays the security guard except when he is bored – well it was all 3 but Archie  went back to the crime scene and his toy was amongst the mess.  Cheers Monika & Glen xx

ROY     To All the Wonderful People At SCARS ( especially Kelly),

We adopted Roy back in April 2008, It was love at first sight when we saw him, But had to wait 10 long days to bring him home due to his Kennel cough. We got him home and straight away ,he made best friends with our other jack ruessell Polly. He loves his new home and family and spends his days playing, pooing and sleeping. He is a cheeky little fella who is GO, GO, GO....He loves anyone he comes in contact with. He is so spoilt and managed to score a spot in the bed at night, he is also fed Organic meat and vegtables, he eats better than we do. He is starting to like the water at the beach and LOVES going for his walks. I thought id send you a few photos to show you how happy he is with his new family. Roy has bought so many smiles to our faces and we just want to say a huge THANKS to you all for our little ROY BOY......         Cheers Sian, Brad, Polly & Roy

CODY - Aka - Cosmo

Hi Kym,     Well it has been ten days now since "Cosmo"came to live with us and its really like he has always lived here.  I took him for a check up last week and he is around 5years old and weighs in at the very delicious 7.2KG!!!!  He is definately on the Hills Lite bikkies although is just loving his fresh meat and chicken wings.   Heeding your advice that he loves to stretch out when he sleeps I bought him a '"MASSIVE" bed which sits on our bed and he sleeps in that every day nearly all day.  He is totally in love with his bed, which is awesome as it was hideously expensive, he he.  Refuge animals deserve the ultimate in lifestyle when they are finally given their time I reckon.  Anyway, thanks so much again.  We think he is just the best thing.  Megan

HONEY -   Hi,     We got our gorgeous dog Honey from you about 8/9 months ago now I think.  I have been meaning to send you a couple of photos to let you know she is truely a pampered pet.   She has settled in really well with us and after a few days of her being very nervous with us she is just a joy and a very lovable (and sookie) member of our family.   Thank you very much for her.  You all do a wonderful job out there.   Have a great day  Regards    Melinda, Josh and Aron

CODY - Aka - Cosmo

Hi Kym,    I couldn't stop calling Cosmo Cody for some odd reason, so we have renamed him to accomodate my brain malfunction.    Not a peep out of Cody all the way home.  I quickly setup his kitty litter and food and he jumped in and did a huge wee, so all was good with the toilet, phew.  He is now wandering around like he has lived here for years.
My husband who said, "lets make it a rule not to have him in the bed" promptly
jumped into bed for a nap taking Cody with him!!!  I hope you don't miss him too
much although I can see how you got to love him, thats just him. Will keep in touch, though you would be wondering what he was up to. Megan

FOX - Dear SCARS We bought Foxy 4 months ago, he has to adjusted to his new surroundings great, he couldn't be happier. He's put a couple of much needed kilos on since we've bought him. He is spoilt rotten as he sleeps where he wishes. Heres a few photos to show how he's fitted into the family, thanks for your help in picking the perfect dog. The Connell Family

FLY - Aka - Precious     Hello to everyone at SCARS
We got Precious from you back in April. We came looking for a puppy to be a companion for our 10 month old pup Spider. But Precious was just so adorable, she looked like a miniature of our Cattle Kelpie we lost to cancer. We couldn't resist her.  We wanted to give her a fresh start so this included a new name. Because she was so small and quick we thought Fly was a great name and it went so well with Spider.  Though I think Fly entrapped Spider more than the other way round.  She responded to the new name almost instantly. We were warned that she was a dominant dog. She has certainly never shown aggressive traits to us, family, friends, their kids and dogs.   Though she does love to be up high and survey her kingdom or rather Queendom. One of her favourite places is up on the top of the headrest of the recliner in front of the TV. She does get cranky with Spider sometimes  and likes to show him who is boss - but then he is a silly pup who never knows when enough is enough.  But generally they love to play together and  show a lot of affection for each other as the photos show.  We do give her a bit of latitude as she did do so much time with you. She loves to run about our property, give our cattle a good talking to, go for a drive and visiting whenever possible, but most of all she loves a good cuddle. She is such a beautiful dog and a wonderful companion to us and Spider and we are so glad we found her. She was just the perfect addition to our family.      Love    Linda and Mark

PEPPER - Aka - Roxy,   My new family said I could let you know how I was getting on!

W0W what a day I had, first I had a trip in the car about a hour they said, I behaved you'll be proud to know, I may have had to whimper a little just to let them know I was there but it was quite good cause I got some treats throughout the journey to my new home.  We stopped off at a dog walking area so that I could stretch my legs and I showed my new people how good good I am at coming back and sitting when told, then it was off in the car again. One more stop so they could pick up my new bed and some breakfast (yum, yum), where I sat outside the shops with my new boss, and met some more people, I was so good and friendly.     Finally we got to my new home!   I met my new playmate his name is Wicket, he is older than me (3yrs) and way smaller then me but has made me feel right at home. I am trying hard to ignore the 2 fluffy cats, one is ok but the other one turns in to a toilet brush when ever I look at her!! hee hee she looks funny.    I went out for another 2 walks yesterday and one this morning and when I have finished this letter we all going out to the  beach!! I love the water.  Thank you very much for looking after me for the past few months and thank you very much for helping my new forever family in finding me.    I will keep in touch every now again so you can see how I am growing and getting on .     Wags and licks Pepper (Aka Roxy) I've changed my name and answer to it already.

BRIDIE

QUEENIE - I thought you would be interested to know that "Queenie" travelled back to Tamworth with no dramas at all.  She has settled into her new home at "Whispering Gums" very well.  She has a very large securely fenced area at the back of the house with her own kennel.  We take her for a walk everyday and she is allowed to roam under supervision until she knows her permitted boundaries in the large front garden.  Our other female Pembroke Corgi "Elly" who is also 10 years has accepted her well.  Rest assured that "Queenie" is very happy in her new enviroment and we will care for her very well.    John.

TOFFEE -   Hi,   We adopted Toffee in May 2008.  I thought you
might like this photo showing him relaxing (usual pose!).  He has settled
into our home really well (as though he has always been with us) and my husband continually says how lucky we are to have him.  He is so good in the house and loves nothing more than to snuggle up in his blankets in his bed when he is not stretched out on the tiles.  Toffee also loves going in the car and is very well behaved.  He also loves to race around the house like a rocket every Sunday afternoon after his bath.   Thank you so
much for allowing us to adopt him he is a truly happy spoilt little doggy!

Tanya & Phil

SALLY - Aka - Ellie - My name is Ellie and we adopted "Ellie" back in September 07.  Ellie is now known as Sally as having 2 Ellie's in the house was far too confusing.   Sally is a fantastic dog, very energetic and loves going to the park and beach and she loves having the company of her "mum and dad" and her sister Tess (although when Tess first came to us back in February, she was not so sure!).  We were told that her owners gave her up as she did not get on with the other dog she lived with - all I can say is that it must have been the other dog - coz she has been fantastic with Tess and all the other dogs she knows. Thank you Sippy Creek for doing what you do and giving people like us a chance to give a good home to these fantastic animals.   Regards Ellie

ELROY - I thought i would let you know how Elroy is doing.  He loves it at home being able to snuggle into everyone. We have also found out that he loves tuna.  He is starting to learn how to swim.  Thank you so much for our beautiful dog Elroy.  Thank you heaps (especially Kelly).

HARVEY - Hi everyone at Sippy Creek.  One year on and I wanted to let you all know how I am going.  My family of six absolutely adores me.  They give me so much attention.  They take me for walks and I get so excited that I do a dance with my back end.   They take me to the beach and I show them how I ride the waves.  I am not scared of the water at all you know.    I have a ½ an acre to run amuck.  I really look forward to dinner time.  You may notice that I have put on a bit of weight, but Mum is trying to control that.  I must tell you that I haven’t had any more trouble with my ears.   I think they spoil me too much here but I am not going to tell them that.  I am so looking forward to spending the rest of my life here and I know the humans are too.  Love Harvey

JESSIE - Hi Everyone,   Just a much overdue note to let you know how Jessie is getting on.  Our Big Girl is very special to us and has become a much loved family member.  She has hit it off with Rusty our other "hairy human" and they spend their days either running amuck in the back yard or lying on THEIR couch.  Its an old one we were throwing away but they have claimed it. Jessie is a very gentle sweet dog that seems to always be happy just to be around us. She tolerates the cat although we suspect that Jess thinks its a neurotic dog of some sort.  We are so grateful to all the staff at SCARS for the help in matching us up wither Jessie she is the best friend we could have found.    Cheers John.

RUPERT with MISTY - Aka - Anita - Hi, Rupert is extremly happy here. She is fitting in grest, she even went outside yesterday!   Mitsy (aka. Anita) has adopted her and they lick each other all the time, they even play together. Its like watching matrix cat version.  But, she still hisses at the dog.

CRUZ - Hi,   Just letting you know how happy we are with Cruz. He is such a joy to have around and has had no problems at all settling in.  He loves playing on the beach, chasing balls and lazing around the home.      Thanks to all at SCARS!                    Neil, Karina & Cruz.

TIA - Aka - Molly    Tia formaly Molly was bought from you about 3years ago.  Tia was 11 years old at the time.  She had a drain in her backside when i got her which was taken out at our vets in Chinchilla all went well.  She is very happy at her new home in Miles with her new Sisters Poppy the dashound + and Crystal the cat.  She loves to go for her walk but can no longer walk very far due to her arthritis so she now has a pram to ride in when her legs are to sore.

KAI -    Hi Everyone at SCARS.     I have settled in to my new home really well and my new Mum & Dad really love me.  I like to go for a walk to the beach every morning and I don't like it if everyone sleeps in so I go and get my lead myself so that no one forgets to take me.  I love to go for a drive in the car whenever I can.  I love to sleep on my towel in the evenings while everyone is watching the TV but I have a habit of snoring (everyone laughs at me when I snore but I don't see a problem!) Hi especially to Kym.             Love from Kai

BAILEY - Looking extemely content in his new home.......

JASPER - Aka Romeo        Hi Everyone,
Just thought we would send you an email to let you know that our newest member of the family has settled in well.  Last saturday (4/04/08) we visited Sippy Creek animal refuge to donate  some cat  food that belonged to our much loved and now departed cat Jerry.   While we were there we went to visit the kitten room and met  "Romeo".  He has helped to mend our broken hearts and has quickly  made himself at home.  Now renamed jasper (his beautiful colouring  had us searching the internet to find something similar - the stone Jasper), he just loves to drink from the bath room sink while we try  to clean our teeth.  He starts the night in one bedroom and ends early morning sleeping as close as possible to Mum & Dad.  Favourite  toy is the tunnel bought from the refuge closely followed by his wobble mouse.  Thank you so much for looking after him and helping  him to be such a loving gentle cat.  we will send photos shortly,
Karen, Peter, Sam , Josh & Alex

WASSIE     Hello Sippy Creek Refuge,
I wanted to send this in to show others the great job you are doing and also to let you know (especially Kelly, who was very fond of little Wassie) how well Wassie is doing as part of our family.  She was such a timid and scared 'escape artist' who ran away every day for weeks until she got to know us.  Now she is so happy that she never strays and follows us everywhere.  The children love her so much and she is such a sweet gentle dog - we feel lucky to have the opportunity to give her a loving home.

Kind regards    Michelle, Finn and Lulu
