ANDY. Andy's
injuries are consistent with falling out the back of a ute. Please let
this be a reminder to
always restrain your dog while driving. ![]() Andy is much happier now, but will have these scars for the rest of his life. |
| SIR REG. sold What can you say ? It is utter disbelief that there are people out there that could watch this happen, because mange like this does not happen overnight. Sir Reg has been living with this for some time now. WHY ??? |
| MILLY & TILLY sold These girls are our latest cause, their owner came in very distressed not knowing what to do with them or how to care for them. They are 4 years old ! They are not for sale at this time. |
LUCAS sold He is about 5 weeks old and was found with a home made splint of sticks and masking tape to keephis leg straight. |
| WISH sold We all wish for a better life for this little staffi girl. How can anyone have let her live like this ? What hell has her life been ! Her back is like this, after living with fleas most of her life, her tail is swollen from constant chewing. The growth on her belly is disgusting and infected from being dragged along the ground. How could they ??? |
| JAIMIE sold " NEGLECT". What a short word for so much pain and suffering for little Jaimie. The photos can tell the rest of the story. BYRON (was Jaimie) NOW Loving his new home and with people who care. |
| J.D. Before pictures J.D. was surrendered to us by his owners who were unable to give him the proper care he needed. He was in a very sad state when we took him in. His fur was missing (as the pics show) he also has large bare patches of skin on his neck and under and around his ears. With lots of love, care and a good diet he is coming along wonderfully. UPDATE BELOW. |
J.D. Now (SOLD) We are all very proud of the progress J.D. has made since he he has been with us at the Refuge. |
| BOHDI sold Oct 06 Incase you cannot tell, this is a Border Collie The rusty colour around his neck, (where it is supposed to be white), is from flea blood. His rump and tail are bare from chewing the hundreds of fleas his previous owner has allowed him to carry around because of neglect. 01-01-08 MONTY - aka Bohdi looking great after being with his new family for just over a year. |
| BONES sold This is what happens when you don't treat your dog for fleas. Please don't let your dog live like Bones had to before he came to the Refuge. This is not a just reward for all of his unconditional love. |

SOLD - CARLY Why are these neglected and dumped little angels the most loving dogs, after what humans have done to them ? A lovely lady called Carol has taken 3 weeks to try and gain Carly's confidence enough to be able to save her from a life of living lost in the bush, covered in mange and blood and sores. This is the best natured little girl you will meet, after everything she has been through. CARLY now has a wonderful home with Edith, a lovely lady who lives in Brisbane. She will never have to go without again. It was a pleasure to have known you Carly. Thank you Edith, from all of us here at the Refuge. (go to New Beginnings) |
SOLD KARMA Do you recognise this little girl we have called her KARMA, because some of us are hoping karma comesback and gets the previous owners, for letting this happen. She was bought in today by a man "dragging" her around on a lead, and he said she wandered onto his property. Karma NOW ! |
| The Story of "JOY" Joy was bought in to the refuge by a man who said he found her in one of his paddocks. When she first walked in our front gate we just could not believe that someone could do this to another living being, a couple of us thought, this dog doesn't have a chance. You couldn't even touch her to pat her or she would start bleeding. Her head hung low and sad. The vets checked her out and said that they would try and help her. The volunteers on the next day had to give her a bath, so the only way they could do it was to put a towel over her body and gently run warm water on the towel. There were large patches of bare skin all over her body, where hair had fallen out, but amazingly she just stood there and let them help. It took a few days but her tail finally started wagging. After all that neglect she started to feel safe again. Amazingly after about 8 weeks of vet care and lots of love from all the volunteers, her picture tells the story. She looks so proud, like a dog standing in a show ring. |
JOY Before 8 weeks later Now 2 years later. |
JOY Now February 2007 ![]() Bobbie, Joys owner, says that she is a real joy and is sweet to Miss Kitty their 9 year old cat. Joy is very puppy like still, one minute bounding around the next fast asleep. She is obviously one of the lucky ones. |
"MASON" - WHY? Mason came to us through the Maroochy Shire Pound. The pound contacted the refuge to say they had an emaciated male rotti with a chain on which had been on him so tight that it had grown into his neck. The photos are not nice, but this is the reality the refuge deals with constantly. How can some people let this happen ? ![]() |
| SOLD CASSIUS (before) CASSIUS ( now ) having a bath - maybe ! |
All they
want is a happy ending (maybe not quite this happy !)
